Alex DeSouza

Alex DeSouza is a self-taught artist who uses fine art
scanography, or scanner photography, to take a deeper
look at a variety of specimens from nature. From
butterflies and plants, to feathers and flowers,
he captures the patterns and landscapes that exist in
the almost microscopic world that lives in a scanned
picture. Alex, who grew up in New England, began
experimenting with photography as a teenager. His work
has shown in Southern California in Temecula and at the
Julian Branch Library. He lives in Julian, a historical
mining town in the mountains of San Diego County,
surrounded by nature. –by Cathy Scott, author of The
Crime Book and The Killing of Tupac Shakur
